- Did the book interest us? Was it something that we like to read?
- Did we understand what the book was about? Did it make sense?
- Did they know the words they were reading, if there were 5 hard words we didn't know then the book was too hard to read for fun because we wouldn't enjoy stopping and figuring out the words all the time.
P- purpose. What is the purpose of the book for learning or fun?
I- interest. Are you interested in the book? Does the book fit your interests?
C- comprehend (understand what the book is about)
K - know. Do you know the words you are reading, are they the best-fit words for you?
I have a book and it suits me because I like action packed books and I understand it and all the words I know so I don't have a problem reading it. My book has a whopping 314 pages! And 29 Chapters!!! I like My book I got it out from the Garden Place Library Liam Room10
ReplyDeleteI have just seen this video and I have borrowed a book of a friend and even the front cover interests me.
ReplyDeleteIts called "TOM GATES Best BooK DAY EvER (so far) BY: L.Pichon" Even though it's not something that would usually interest me but it has and opened up my interests for books. So It interests me, I understand it and I want to start reading more because I don't really like reading apart from on the computer e.g. like reading the chat of a game or doing research for a "game". So what I'm saying I only read when I'm gaming or doing research. If I read a book It's a book that we read in a group and reflect on it or its a gaming book or like a weird, funky book. Also when I read a book It will be like 5% pictures so only a small amount of pictures.

My book is a good fit because it is non fiction , it is based in New Zealand , it has no pictures it is quite sad I can read the words in my book and I am interested in it .My book has 192 pages .

Great YouTube clip for choosing a book. As well as these points, I think choosing a manageable length for your book is important so that children can finish the book and feel a sense of accomplishment.

What a lovely YouTube clip. It made me think about what I read and why I read them. I think it is also a good idea to try a new book whenever you go into the Library and not just choose the same authors.
