Kauri Team Assembly

Every Wednesday afternoon at 2.30 pm, the Kauri Team head down to the hall to celebrate another week of being great Hamilton East Learners.

We sing, we dance, we listen, we talk but mostly we reward students in our team.

We reward them for:

having a positive attitude
being inclusive
showing manners
being resilient
sharing their learning
achieving their goals
being great role models

and many other things we value at Hamilton East.

Here are our wonderful students from Wednesday 17th October.

Learning Goals

We've set our goals and we're on our way, Ma te mahi ka ora ................cos that's the kiwi way......

Room 10 have worked so hard on seeing where their next learning steps might be. Check them out!

I wonder how they might achieve them, perhaps you could offer some suggestions?

Holiday Highlights

Today was our first day of Term 4. We had many discussions about being Out and About, which is this terms topic, during the holidays. All the students of Room 10 went out in Hamilton and some of them went about which we decided was further away.

We all feel refreshed and ready for a busy Term 4.

London Olympics 2012

We have enjoyed the Olympics so much over the past few weeks. We spent hours researching New Zealand athletes and following their olympic journey. We asked questions about events, we watched news clips and we even trained for five weeks for the cross country so we sort of know what it's like to be an athlete! Project Energize had us doing a home play challenge that was full of a variety of physical activities too.

We also received an email from Shire Newton School in Wales asking us questions about New Zealand. It was exciting to hear from them again this year.

We made an Olympic Wall in our classroom to share our learning. I wonder if you can see some secret Room 10 Olympians?

HES Cross Country

Today we ran in our school cross country. It was a fantastic day, with everyone trying their best and achieving their personal goal. Even the rain waited till the running was over.

Room 10 did a wonderful job of supporting the Kowhai and Totara runners, cheering and running alongside them to encourage them and keep them moving. Thank you Room 10, you are stars!

Cross Country Training

Greg from Project Energize came to our school and taught us some great ways to get ready for the school cross country

We played a game where one team had to pick up cones and turn them one way while the other team had to turn them back over! The winning team had the most cones one way up. It was an exhausting game!

This game was finding six different colours from a colour code that Greg made. You had to find the colours in the order he had on his code. It was a fast running activity and we were puffed at the end!

These were two of many activities that we did to prepare us for running in the HES cross country.
