Take a look and see what we discovered. Which items interest you the most?
We found most of our information on this great website: http://www.kiwikidsnews.co.nz/

Art in Room 10
We started making our daffodils a while ago now! We wanted to do something different with our sketches so we decided to make papier mache daffodils from them.
It took a long time as we had to wait for each coat of paper to dry before we applied another layer.
It was really tricky getting the paper to stick to the wire too.
After we made them and painted them, we added two coats of P.V.A. glue to make them shiny.
We love our daffodils, we hope you do too!

The Class of 53
We had some very important visitors who came to our school.
They were the class of 53! They went to this school in 1953 and they wanted to see what it is like now.
We had a powhiri to welcome them to our school.
Here are some photos for you to see.
This woman won the Speights Shield way back then!
This is our Speights Shield winner from last year. Do you recognise him?
This lady is giving out the ToolKit Awards.

Oral Language
This week we have been discussing 'what if's' in our Oral Language groups. The purpose of these discussions is to think critically about what we would do if ....?
Here is one of our examples:

Personal Narratives
Personal Narratives on PhotoPeach
These pieces of writing are based around activities we do on weekends or in the holidays. We have worked on making each sentence exciting to read by using adjectives and verbs. We also tried to describe events without specifically saying what they were.
I wonder if you can guess what Room 10 children have experienced?

School Cross Country
It is nearly time for us to hold our school cross country for 2013. We have been working hard to train so we can run up and down hills, round the field and out onto the road with enthusiasm and stamina.
We are really hoping to achieve our goals. We hope parents and whanau can come and see us run.

Skyping with Room 5
We have been working on 'questioning' during oral language. Our goal is to know when to ask closed questions and when it is more relevent to ask open questions.
We decided to share our learning with room 5 and then reflect on what we found out from them about themselves and their learning.

Pukete Mountain Bike Park
Today Ms O'Neil and 14 students, who had taken part in Term 1's cycle training, took their skills to the bike park.
We had so much fun, riding down steep hills and up the other side, riding through streams and puddles and doing some cool jumps.
Thanks Amy our KiwiSport Bike Officer, Renae and Emmy her helpers. Dugan our caretaker/bus driver and bike fixer, Ms O'Neil for organising the event and Lilybean for helping the bikers ride faster by her encouraging barking.
Lets go again next year!

Our quadblogging research
We were wondering where our quadblogging schools were. So Emily, Joshua and Nehaal did some
research and figured out where in New Zealand they are.
This is what they found .....

Kauri Assembly 3rd July
Last Wednesday was another fun Kauri Assembly. We do so much singing and dancing and sharing.
Some of the children in Room 10 wish it could go on for longer!
Here is the photo of our wonderful certificate winners for the week. There were a few invisible ones that needed fairy dust sprinkled on them!
Well done to you.
