Hi Room 10, not many more sleeps left before the new term starts!
I hope everyone has been having a wonderful holiday? I'm sure you've been relaxing by reading, going to the pools, watching movies, helping mum, dad or someone else around the house? Maybe you've been to the beach or the park or a walk in the bush?
Why don't you leave a comment telling me and the rest of Room 10 what you've been doing.
See you on Monday, I'm excited!
From Ms O'Neil :)

Science - Inflating a Balloon
We have been finding out about 'Matter' and the three states it comes in; gas, liquid and solids.
Experiment
Inflating a balloon!
What We Need:
vinegar
baking soda
a balloon
a funnel
an empty bottle
a teaspoon
Method:
1. Stretch open the top of the balloon and attached it to the end of the funnel.
2. Put two teaspoons of baking soda into the balloon, through the funnel.
3. In the empty bottle, pour in enough vinegar to half fill it.
4. Carefully holding the balloon so no baking soda tips out, stretch the balloon over the mouth of the
bottle.
5. Tip up the balloon so the baking soda falls into the bottle and mixes with the vinegar.
6. Watch the balloon inflate!

School's Day Out - Waikato Show
The Totara and Kauri teams went to 'School's Day Out' at the Claudelands Event Centre.
We had so much fun being artists, finding out more about the Civil Defence and what they do. We met some officers from the NZ Police force, we just had to pat the four day old Alpaca, we also learnt about the fish in our Waikato river and much more!

Before we left we spent some time on stage with the Funky Monkey's.
It was a great day. Did you go to the Show? Did you see some of the things that we did?

We also got to take part in Alph's Army with Major Blunder, which was very exciting but a bit floury!

Autumn Writing
We used Gail Loane to help us share the things we love about Autumn. We also used our senses to describe Autumn.
Ms O'Neil took photos of our work displayed in our classroom. Please come and visit if you would like to read more.
We wonder how Autumn makes you feel?

A Friend in the Wild
These movies show the children's favourite part of the story - A Friend in the Wild by Marie Gibson.
They drew what they visualized and then recorded themselves reading.
If you have read this book, tell us what was your favourite part. We love it when you comment!

ANZAC Day and information
Last week Room 10 researched the history of the ANZAC's. We looked at websites on our blog and read some really interesting books. We watched a movie about the ANZAC's too which showed us where the troops landed and some of the difficulties they faced when they arrived. From our research we worked in pairs to present information that was important to us.
