Jackiwa Poems

After Judi Billcliff came to visit Kauri team and our class she emailed Whaea Kat about a new type of poem to write.
We were all keen to try the new type of poem.

A JACKIWA POEM - juh-key- waa

 A jackiwa Poem is a Judi Billcliff idea.

 It is structured like a (sideways) triangle where poets tell

their story in a minimalistic way.

 A jackiwa poem tells a simple but complete story in 8 lines:

1 word: topic

2 words: uses adjectives

3 words: uses verbs

4 words: builds to climax

4 words: ready to resolve

3 words: uses verbs

2 words: uses adjectives

1 word: ties back to first

Before we wrote our poems we did some revision on what verbs and adjectives were.

Adjectives:
Verbs:

Here are some of our poems.

Taonga sent his poem to Judi and she has put it on her blog. We are very proud of him. He is a published author!
