Making Pesto for Harvest Festival
Our school garden had lots of produce in it. There were beans, pumpkins, potatoes, tomatoes, sunflowers and herbs. With the harvest festival coming up we had to decide what we would make to share with others in the school.
We decided to use the basil to make pesto.
The food processor chops and mixes all the ingredients together.

2 cups fresh basil leaves
1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
1/2 c extra virgin olive oil
1/3 cup pine nuts
2 garlic gloves
salt and pepper
Mix together in a food processor.
We left the cheese out as there are some kids at our school who can't eat dairy.
Cricket World Cup
With Cricket World Cup fever taking over in New Zealand, it was not surprising that it flowed into school as well.
Teams from the four Kauri classes played some games. Our class was very enthusiastic, cheering and chanting for our classmates. It was lots of fun.
Out of the 8 teams we placed third.

The teachers also had a competition to see who could hit the ball the furtherest.
Kauri Swimming Sports
What a fabulous day Kauri team had at Swimming Sports at Tamahere School pool. There was length and width races. The fun races were piggy back rides, sitting on a kick board, bottom diving and dolphin diving.
Project Energise Cooperative Games
Over to Dawson to learn some cooperative games. We needed to use strategies and work together to outsmart the other team. The goal was to get the bean bag animals from the hoop in the middle without being tagged.
