The scenario was that there had been a massive tornado in the Hamilton East area. The children had to make up a story and an injury to the Civil Defence people in charge so they could be treated.
Some children had to act deaf and others had to be blind!
It was very exciting and we had lots of fun learning about what the Welfare Centre does.
Here we are waiting and listening to Shaun guiding us into the scenario and giving people roles.
This is where you get registered. You have to give your name, date of birth, your address and phone number, the name of your doctor, your nationality and if you have lost a family member.
Sarah was in charge of first aid. We had to sit on the chair and tell her what our injuries were. She bandaged us up and sent us to another area.
This is Shaun, he was in charge and the other man is a Maori Warden they are in charge of security.
This team of people are here to make sure everyone had something to eat and drink because in a real emergency some people may not have had food for a long time.
Some people get very angry in an emergency because they are hungry, frightened and stressed!
This Civil Defence man was trying to communicate with deaf people, it made his job a lot harder.
.... is a great website to find out what to do in a real emergency.
Thanks Civil Defence Team for showing us how to behave and prepare in a real emergency.
